Course Overview

This course equips general nurses with increased knowledge and abilities in the specialised area of paediatric nursing and prepare nurses to work in a range of paediatric nursing settings safely and professionally.

Paediatric nurses meet the nursing care requirements of newborns, children, and adolescents as they quickly move through physical, mental, and social phases of development.

The course will educate nurses about paediatric nursing and equip them to offer high-quality and safe nursing interventions. The curriculum puts a focus on critical thinking abilities necessary for practise in the field of paediatric nursing.

Paediatric nurses must adapt to new technology and treatments and incorporate them into their practise in order to deliver safe, effective, and high-quality nursing care.

Students will learn how to:

  • Conduct a critical examination of the responsibilities, functions, and scope of practise of paediatric nursing
  • Demonstrate leadership within the multidisciplinary healthcare team in the provision of effective therapeutic treatment to clients in paediatric settings by using critical thinking processes, problem solving abilities, and effective communication
  • Conduct an analysis of the legal, ethical, social, cultural, and political issues that influence the delivery of person-centered healthcare
  • Recognize, evaluate, and use current evidence-based nursing strategies while caring for children in paediatric settings

The Graduate Certificate in Advanced Nursing also serves as a gateway for individuals interested in pursuing a Master of Nursing degree in Australia, either on-campus or online.
