The Graduate Certificate in Advanced Nursing has been designed to meet the growing global demand for specialised registered nurses.

The Graduate Certificate in Advanced Nursing (GCAN) program includes 13 speciality postgraduate courses that will develop your specialty nursing skills, competence, and professional knowledge.

The course is certified in Australia and is also suitable for overseas students who are currently trained nurses working in a specialised nursing context and seeking to further develop their specialised nursing knowledge and formalise their clinical abilities.

The course is available online and is taught by expert lecturers and nursing clinicians. You will learn advanced nursing practices to offer responsive specialised nursing care to patients and their families in modern specialised nursing settings. Our graduates will be confident in their ability to provide high-quality patient care.

The interactive online learning experience at IHM is robust and engaging. IHM’s online course delivery is specifically designed to accommodate the hectic schedules of working nurses. It enables nurses to continue their professional growth while maintaining their personal and familial responsibilities.

Course Details

This course is for registered nurses with a Bachelor degree or comparable qualificationand who are currently in practice.

If you are committed to improving your nursing practise, this course is for you. The course is intended to meet the requirements of nurses working in a variety of settings and with varying work schedules and family obligations.

International nurses working in any country are invited to enrol in this online course.

Course Flexibility

What you need to know:

IHM believes in flexible learning as most of our GCAN students work full time. Keeping this in mind, the GCAN specialisation courses are delivered online, where the student gets to keep their current job while studying with us at IHM:

  • All students joining the course will be starting with one single unit and progressing to speciality units.
  • Single unit delivery will be happening on Thursday, 5 PM to 9 PM AEST time to accommodate students studying this course globally.
  • Course Orientation is conducted every Monday for new students joining every month.
  • GCAN course has monthly intakes, and the students get the flexibility to study 1 unit per semester.
  • Students can complete the course in one year by taking one unit per term or in six months full-time.
